The role of a Line Mechanic

As a Line Mechanic, you’ll be at the forefront of constructing overhead and underground power lines, installing LV and HV equipment, and ensuring the smooth operation of our network.  From maintenance to fault work, your craftsmanship and dedication will be instrumental in keeping our community powered up.

You’ll be part of the Waipā Networks team responsible for maintenance throughout the entire network, contributing to safe work site management.  But that’s not all.  You’ll also participate in fault work as required including system isolation, switching and working with the control room to ensure its safety and effectiveness.  Sounds exciting, right?

Key Responsibilities

About you

You’ll have at least two years of experience, a current EWRB practising licence, and a minimum Level 4 NZQA qualification and be ready to head straight into the field with the Waipā Networks team.  It would be advantageous if you have experience with glove and barrier work. But we are also interested in your genuine enthusiasm for continued growth and your openness to taking on new responsibilities as your career develops.

You’ll be a passionate and driven individual who’s always ready to take on new challenges and is inspired to develop their career further where possible in the electricity distribution sector.

You’ll be someone with an eagerness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in, ready to gain more practical and hands-on experience in the Waipā region.

You’ll also have a knack for problem-solving and have the ability to make decisions quickly and accurately.  Your collaborative nature will be key as you work with our team, customers and community, building positive relationships.

Lastly, you’ll also be a strong communicator and team-oriented but also be self-motivated to get the job done.
