Detection & Measurement of Harmonics (Guide)

1989

For many years the phenomenon of voltage distortion has been the subject of study and investigation. Nonetheless, it still remains a subject in which it is thought some degree of guidance is necessary.
As technology introduces more and more components, equipment that exhibit and are influenced by harmonic sources it has been felt necessary to consolidate the documentation to assist the technical staff of Electricity Supply Authorities.
The purpose of this document is to provide that consolidation. The technical nature of the subject, continuing developments and gaining of experience suggest that there will be further information and practices that should be incorporated. Thus, subsequent editions must include such new data that ensures continued usefulness of the document.
The contents have been compiled from a variety of sources. The Institute Committee for Harmonics was reconvened to fulfil the objective. There is a considerable wealth of knowledge in that Committee on the subject of harmonics.
