The next Annual Power Engineering Exchange [APEX] Summit 2019 is being held at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch on Thursday 22nd of August 2019.

It will gather graduate engineers of any discipline (electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) involved in power supply projects, as well as students interested in a career in the industry. Past attendees valued their APEX experience for the knowledge gained, the opportunity to network and the chance to brush up their presentation skills.

The theme - Evolving Technology

Engineering is all about doing things smarter. How can we deliver electricity more reliably, at a lower cost, with improved safety outcomes and reduced environmental impact? How can we engineer solutions to achieve these objectives?

Technology is Evolving at a rate faster than any time in history. Artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, and machine learning are now a reality and being used in our industry and by customers. As these new technologies become mainstream, how can they and where can they be applied to electricity infrastructure assets to provide smarter solutions, increase performance, reduce environmental impact or provide a better service to your friends and family.

Sometimes it is just a case of seeing an old problem and applying an innovative, elegant solution with a new approach. New team work practices and processes can also significantly affect the outcome of applying evolving technology.

At this year's APEX Summit, we look forward to listening to presenters able to show how they apply evolving technology in their engineering work.
