Public consultations currently open for comments - ACC, WorkSafe, Productivity Commission - May 2018

EEA would like to raise our members' attention on three government consultations currently open for comments.

ACC - Workplace safety incentives - Proposed products

ACC is proposing some new, enhanced products to help lead to healthier and safer workplaces. These products may affect your company's ACC levy, so it is important you understand what is being proposed and how it might affect you. The detailed product thinking has been outlined on ACC's website. Businesses will have until 10 June to submit their feedback.

MBIE / WorkSafe - Draft Health and Safety at Work Strategy 2018-2028

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) and WorkSafe are consulting on a draft Health and Safety at Work Strategy 2018-2028. The strategy aims to provide vision and direction, as well as enable coordination, across New Zealand's health and safety system. EEA is considering making a submission; comments can be sent to Ross Parker at by Friday 18 May 2018. Submissions to MBIE are due by 8 June 2018.

Productivity Commission - Low-Emissions Economy Draft Report

The Productivity Commission has released its draft report on New Zealand's transition to a low-emissions economy. The report acknowledges that the need to increase the supply of electricity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in other sectors (such as transportation) can create challenges in the electricity sector meeting its own fossil fuel use reduction targets. The paper calls for caution in how these electricity targets and current policy measures are being addressed. The Productivity Commission is seeking feedback on its draft report by 8 June 2018. EEA is considering preparing a submission: please email your comments to Marion Sorez, Industry Analyst, at by 25 May 2018.
