Over the last twelve months, the EEA has maintained regular contact with key government agencies, local government and other industry groups and associations when their policy or practice development work is seen to impact upon our industry, and we have been very actively involved in submissions on new legislation, reviews and discussion papers. In an environment of increasing regulatory control, the EEA has worked to ensure policy makers understand and appreciate the extensive work that the industry already undertakes to self regulate in the areas of safety and health and technical/engineering performance through the development, implementation and use of best practice documents, risk management processes, minimum standards, national and international standards.
